What determines the number of handicap parking spaces for my parking lot?
There isn’t a set number of handicap parking spaces that are mandatory for a parking lot, but under State and local government regulations, if there are up to twenty-five parking spaces, then there must be one 96’ van accessible space reserved for handicap parking. If there are between twenty-five and fifty parking spaces, then you must provide one van handicap-accessible space, along with one 60’ regular handicap parking space. If your parking lot has over fifty spaces, then you must provide customers with an acceptable number of handicap parking spaces that meet and is in compliance with the ADA (The Americans with Disabilities Act).
